so_shik | Forty-Ninth Spool of Thread

[For the last few weeks, things have been a little crazy. Rhyme appeared in Luceti during the last cycle, and Shiki was doing her best to make sure her younger friend was getting settled. With that, she was also making sure she was balancing her time between her housemates and her work which was proving to be a bit more difficult as the spring season was kicking into full-swing. She had been spending a lot of time at the shop lately, but only part of that time was spent making clothes.

The other part? If anyone had come into All Passions at all during the last month or so, they would see that Shiki's been making very slow progress in cleaning out her storage closet in the back of the building. Shelves are being rearranged and racks are being filled in order to compensate for the extra storage bins and boxes she's dragging out. She's also been working with some sheet metal she picked up from the smithy last week, lining the inside of the room and making sure no cracks are left uncovered. She wants it to be perfect for Minato and his darkroom.

Seeing how it's a nicer day this week than it has been, she's going to take a break and go outside of the shop, sitting down on the porch with Mr. Mew. She's idling doodling in her journal for a few moments before she decides to address the village as a whole.]

...so I hope everybody's okay now! Last week was totally crazy, but what else is new in this place? I can't believe how different everyone was though when their memories were altered. I guess I can't blame anybody for being so far into their mindset though.

It just reminds me of some piece of advice someone once gave me. Well, maybe not advice, but wisdom at least. "The world is more than what you just see." [She goes quiet then, as though she's thinking on those very words and how they relate to her herself. But she comes back with another slight grin.]

Was there anyone who actually preferred their other memories compared to the originals?

[As of late, Rhyme hasn't really stepped out of the house or left Beat's side for too long. Mainly because the experiment seemed to have startled them both a little bit. It doesn't help that Rhyme feels guilty for just abandoning Beat like that...

But as he seems to be doing all right by himself at home today, Rhyme decided to go and visit Shiki. Get some fresh air too. As she gets closer to the shop, she spots her on the porch, smiles and waves a little]

Hey, Shiki!

[She looks up from her journal briefly when she hears her name being called, spotting Rhyme a few feet away.] Hey! [She waves back, motioning for the girl to come join her and Mr. Mew. There's even a few extra chairs on the porch.] Good to see you out today.

[And she will definitely take that invitation to join her and her cute plushie! She gets up to the porch and plops down in a seat next to Shiki] I'm glad to be out. It's been a few days since I've actually gotten out like this.

What are you up to?

Taking a break mostly. Mr. Mew and I have been tackling our spring cleaning...a friend of mine is setting up a room for himself in the back of the shop, so I've been trying to rearrange stuff so we both fit. He's into photography, so I wanted to give him a dark room.

I've never seen a dark room before. [Well, except in movies but that doesn't count] Do you need some help cleaning and rearranging things?

Oh! [She looks surprised Rhyme's offering.] I mean I don't need it, but you know I wouldn't object. You haven't been inside the shop yet, have you?

[She shakes her head] No, I haven't gotten the chance to inside to see for myself yet.

If you want, I can give you the grand tour and everything.

I'd really like that!

[Getting up and motioning for Rhyme to follow then.] Come on in. Welcome to All Passions. [And she's leading Rhyme inside. Once there, Rhyme will see all sorts of racks and shelves filled with clothes for men and women of all ages, and all of them are designed with strategically placed holes in the back for the wings of the villagers. In the back there are dressing rooms, and there is also a room that now holds Minato's dark room. In the center is a high wooden desk with a bar stool behind it where Shiki usually sits. Off to the side there's also her sewing station with a few machines and baskets and drawers of materials.]

[And so she gets up and follows her right in!

As they go through the store, she takes a look at all of the clothes, stopping every now and then when she spots an interesting design. She even stops when they get around to the dark room, looking inside curiously. But back to the clothes, she turns to look at Shiki] Do you make these all by yourself?

Yup! I used to have help, but they've all been sent back to their own worlds...just me now. What do you think?

That's amazing!! The fact that you designed all of these amazing clothes and made them yourself is really impressive.

[Really girl, kudos to you]

[She brightens a little at that idea.] You really wouldn't mind that?

Of course not! Especially if you're willing to go through the trouble to make me something if I ever asked.

Oh come on. You know it wouldn't be any trouble for you...we're friends. Just remember that.

[oaeirge She beams] Thank you, Shiki! I still want to help out whenever I can though.

Say the word and I'll bring you into work with me any day you want. We'll make it like an internship.
