[There's a bit of a static feed as the journal turns on, and Shiki doesn't say anything for a moment. She's busy reading over everything from the last few days, but she finally decides to talk to the village at large.]

So. Hypothetical question. ...how long is too long to wait? For people, for objects, for anything. Give me your thoughts on this.

It's fall now, isn't it? I should get back to decorating. So another question...favorite thing about Halloween? Decoration-wise, holiday-wise, anything. This is pretty important.

[Important in the sense that when she's done addressing the journal, she's busy flitting about her shop. She's been spending the last few days rearranging all of the furniture and putting up new shelves and such with Haruhi's help. And now. There are fake maple leaves all over the walls. And outside. Along with some cut-out paper pumpkins strung along the walls. Villagers are free to find her outside on the porch of All Passions staplegunning things to the building and such.]

No; but I can still that away from it.

Six years. [She counts the nearly-two-years of Luceti easily.]

Must have been a pretty decent not-lesson if it's stuck that long.

A lot happened back then. [She says it with a small smile, her effort to keep it to exactly that: something from the past.]

Mm. It has. How long have you been here?

[The question is simply for her own information; it takes time for luceti to add up. She's fought in the drafts, been experimented on by the Malnosso, even been sent home and brought back - four years later, for her.]

About two and a half years. Way longer than I ever thought I'd be here, but it's almost expected by this point.

This winter, I'll have been here two years. I'd like to go home to stay this time, and bring Usagi-chan with me. But right now, I have important things to do here, too.

What sort of important things?

I want to do everything I can for the people here, working at the clinic and helping them think of ways to settle this place. And I want to stay with Usagi-chan and my friends here.

I think your reasons are similar to my reasons. I bet a lot of people feel that way though and just don't say so.

What would you wait for?

A friend of mine. My best friend. Any of my best friends, really.

Are any of your friends from home here with you?

Just two now. There used to be a few others, but they've left since then. [And it's a stretch calling Joshua a friend, but he's not really an enemy anymore.]
