so_shik: (I have to make this right again)

Forty-Fifth Spool of Thread - [Voice/Action]

[There's a bit of a static feed as the journal turns on, and Shiki doesn't say anything for a moment. She's busy reading over everything from the last few days, but she finally decides to talk to the village at large.]

So. Hypothetical question. ...how long is too long to wait? For people, for objects, for anything. Give me your thoughts on this.

Have you figured out your answer yet?

It's fall now, isn't it? I should get back to decorating. So another question...favorite thing about Halloween? Decoration-wise, holiday-wise, anything. This is pretty important.

[Important in the sense that when she's done addressing the journal, she's busy flitting about her shop. She's been spending the last few days rearranging all of the furniture and putting up new shelves and such with Haruhi's help. And now. There are fake maple leaves all over the walls. And outside. Along with some cut-out paper pumpkins strung along the walls. Villagers are free to find her outside on the porch of All Passions staplegunning things to the building and such.]

It's difficult not to think about. That's why I like keeping busy, one way or another.

Yeah. I wanted to believe that, if what he did actually did make me come back with my memories intact, he would come back remembering Luceti if I kept hoping. It's kind of ridiculous, since I can believe he'd be possible of it -- but I wouldn't be able to replicate that.

[He laughs faintly.] Sure. I'll contact you if I need a hand.

I don't know. But now it makes me wonder if anything would have changed if it was Haruki here instead of Haruhi.

Like everything that's just happened in general since Haruhi arrived. I wonder if anything would have been different. Would they have the same ideas, the same kinds of inspiration. I mean, they don't think completely the same way.

[Like if he had said "love" to Haruki in any context, there would be a whole lot of weirdness there.]

That's true... I guess Haruhi doesn't really run the Brigade differently from how Haruki did before.

You think so? I'm not so sure I notice a difference.

I guess I don't notice because neither of them have been really critical of me. Haruki just wouldn't stop calling me a stupid nickname until I somehow proved I was a man.

[He makes a twitchy face. Are you really going to make him say, Shiki?]

I guess it isn't. But this is Haruki and his tendency to repeat things when he knows it grates you. [A long-suffering sigh.] Leo-kitty.

[There's a reluctant, considering silence.] You're right, it could. I think he was just ... trying to emphasize how cutesy he could turn my name.

I think that was his point. That, and playing up the novelty factor of the "catboy." I guess it's a good thing Luceti quickly proved to be filled with things that he didn't consider normal.

No, it's okay; I think I get it. Different perspectives based on the culture. I'd be pretty weirded out if I was an Earthling suddenly surrounded by 'cat people.' Especially if the cat people already had some preconceived notion of people with human ears.

[He laughs a little, though it's kinda awkward. He never did explain that, huh?]

Not really. Most people on my planet look like Earthling humans. Even my parents have human ears.
