[There's a bit of a static feed as the journal turns on, and Shiki doesn't say anything for a moment. She's busy reading over everything from the last few days, but she finally decides to talk to the village at large.]

So. Hypothetical question. ...how long is too long to wait? For people, for objects, for anything. Give me your thoughts on this.

It's fall now, isn't it? I should get back to decorating. So another question...favorite thing about Halloween? Decoration-wise, holiday-wise, anything. This is pretty important.

[Important in the sense that when she's done addressing the journal, she's busy flitting about her shop. She's been spending the last few days rearranging all of the furniture and putting up new shelves and such with Haruhi's help. And now. There are fake maple leaves all over the walls. And outside. Along with some cut-out paper pumpkins strung along the walls. Villagers are free to find her outside on the porch of All Passions staplegunning things to the building and such.]

Sounds like a good idea. I guess dinner's a lot easier though now that it's just the three of us...Beat'll eat anything and you and I tend to have the same tastes anyway. There's...no conflict.

Well I mean...we at least have room for someone else. You know? I like to think that we're all made to be together no matter what. [She's aware she's rambling.] It's always been in fours for us. Back home it was me, Neku, Beat and his little sister Rhyme. Now it's us and you instead.

Um. Sure. Though we're a pretty strange group. I mean, you have your walking cat and Beat thinks he's an eggdaddy.

Mr. Mew's not really a walking cat. [But she starts giggling anyway.] I wonder how long we should let him keep thinking that. He seems to be taking really good care of that egg.

Beat's little sister. She...was in the Game with us for a while.

... oh. I see. [A little sister. Now he feels bad. Even if he doesn't quite get it, he kind of has an inkling.]

...when Neku and I first met, we were partners for a day before we met Beat and Rhyme. I wanted all of us to work together, but Neku and Beat...well, let's just say they were both boneheads. Anyway we were still helping out each other...

...it was on the fourth day that Rhyme got erased. She..she was trying to save Beat, and they erased her instead. But Mr. H...you remember him? Anyway he was nice, made a pin with Rhyme's soul so that Beat wouldn't be erased. But Beat's...you know Beat, he's impatient and he's rash and instead of waiting he just decided to become a Reaper to try and save Rhyme.

I don't know if he knows this but...in every game we each have an entry fee. Beat's were...well I guess are Rhyme's memories of him. And the pin.

The point is he'll do anything for her. And I guess all of his overprotective feelings are being transfered to that egg since she's not here.

[This is a lot. And he doesn't quite understand all of it. But he gets the general idea of it. As an older brother himself, the thought of Katara being in a position like that...

Though he'd probably take it pretty hard if he found out, don't you think?
