[Determined to return Minato's jacket that he let her borrow to get home, Shiki's out walking through town carrying the jacket. It's been cleaned and all, but she's got it folded up instead of wearing it.

What is she wearing? Her boots, her hat...and that's just about it. Shiki's decided that leading a fashion protest is in her best interests. People should recognize inner beauty before clothes after all.

For the love of everything, please stop her and make her put clothes on.]

Because clothes are stifling and make people judge everybody else, that's why. They're really cute, and I love them, but they're stifling.

...well, if we were somewhere where wearing the 'right' kind of clothes was considered socially important, I could see that [Derek replies carefully], but here? With as different as everyone is, and with as different as the clothing styles are from their own worlds, I don't see that becoming an issue.

Personally, I'd be more worried that people thought I was advertising for some unwanted attention, if I were you, since the norm is for people to wear clothing...unless they're doing something that you don't wear clothes for.

True, but you have to think; if that's the case, then why are you risking getting sick and getting the wrong kind of attention to make your point? If it's a question of wanting to be recognized for yourself rather than what you wear, then the best way to do that is to show your personality...not your skin. People won't see anything but your skin this way. Be yourself though, and people will notice that.

Almost a year now, next month, in fact. Doesn't seem like it though.

Yeah. Other than the weather and the experiments I keep hearing about, doesn't seem to be much to break the peace.

Well, it's pretty quiet around here...for the most part. Like being on a vacation.

What did you do before you came here?

Just...normal stuff, I guess. [Well if you exclude the three weeks she was dead anyway] I'm from Shibuya, so it was just a lot of...yeah, normal stuff.

I've never heard of Shibuya. What's it like?

It's in Japan, part of Tokyo. It's really big and busy, lots of people and stores and high-end fashion. I kind of love it.

I'm from the States, myself.

I've met a couple of people here from the States. What part? [Not that Shiki knows much about America, but it's nice to ask.]

Guess I'll have to check it out if I ever make it to Japan.

I'm originally from California. Been spending the last fifteen years in the southwest and Mexico, though.
