Thirty-Third Spool of Thread-[Written/Action]

[Considering that the weather's fairly decent today, Shiki's decided today is a good day to spend outside. For anybody who's known her long enough, they might recognize the crate that she's sitting on as the one she used to use before the porch around the shop was built. Today, she's facing the shop and just looking it over, sketching out some things on a piece of paper. Soon enough though, she starts writing a message to the community]

I think I know the obvious answer, but where would be the best place to get fresh flowers when I'm ready for them? And, you know, planters and dirt and stuff.

Also, the spring line's just about finished if anybody needs something for the new season.

It was a big time moment of weakness, okay? [Pause.] Maybe...a couple months of weakness, if I'm gonna get the big honesty gloves out.

Months? You're kidding me!

If I was, it wouldn't be much of a funny joke--would it?

[The girl sighs, rubbing the side of a loosely closed fist across her chin.]

That's just...he remembers that though, right?

Yeah--see? That? It was kinda pre-being here. As in, pre-big-bad-last-battle.

[You get the truth, Shiki, because this is a conversation road the two of you have been down before.] After I came back from--y'know, being dead? Spike was there for me. Things just escalated out of that.

Huh...what happened that made it stop though? [Shiki's like the annoying little sister who'll keep asking lots and lots of questions, really.]

Uhm--[she looks like she's going to dodge it altogther...but:] I was just using him. He had the big time feelings and I was leeching of those just to feel something. I was being a major league bitch and...honestly? That realization was the big axe. I had to stop it.

[That's the light version. The one without the dark sexual addiction and attempted rape and secret keeping. But, after all, Shiki is like the little sister by times. There are some things you don't share.]

That's...seriously not cool. I mean at least you realized it, but wow. Did he actually forgive you after that though? [Yeah it's probably a good idea to leave those other things out because yikes]

I think so. I mean, he came back, right? He came back and re-joined the good fight and he got a soul--[for her.]

But, you know what? I like the guy. There are real feelings there. Maybe not love or anything mushy but...he's important. So I think we have a nice comfy agreement going on.

I don't know how you do it, Buffy. I really don't. I think I'd go completely crazy if I had to deal with all of that. But I mean...that's good, right? The agreement thing.

Context always helps. It was two years ago. That helps with the dealing. And Angel had already been gone and moved to L.A. for nearly three years. [There was a Riley sandwiched inbetween, but that'd hurt her case.]

So this is me standing as a great example of what not to be, Shiki. Stick with Neku. He seems like a good kid. And, y'know, not a vampire. Bonus.

Yeah, that would make it easier. [Probably wouldn't help, no. What Shiki doesn't know can't hurt Buffy's case.]

I'm pretty sure Neku wouldn't let me not stick with him at this point. I think he thinks I've been ignoring him. But you're right, not being a vampire totally helps.

[Ignoring him? Huh. Where has she seen that before.]

Look--you know what else helps? Dates. Go on one. You and him and a restaurant...maybe an intimate hike through the woods considering the weather's much with the improvement lately. Add in one of your ab-fab outfits and any kind of ignoring will be impossible.

[This was a cozier subject. Ah, young and healthy love. Buffy loves to live vicariously.]

It's just hard I guess since Luceti? Totally not Shibuya. And I've been really busy lately, I admit that. But you're right. Dates help. I'll think of something if the weather stays this nice. [Buffy's lucky Shiki doesn't mind being vicariously lived through.]

Well, here's marginally-capabable Buffy at your service. Any way I can help lighten the busy-factor?

Things have kind of slowed down now that everything's made. If you wanted you could hang out and watch the shop some days when I don't want to come in, but it's nothing big.

I've played shop-girl before. You can count on me.
