Forty-Third Spool of Thread - [Voice/Action]

[There's the sudden sound of a bunch of boxes falling to the ground, contents spilling everywhere as the journal's camera points up to the ceiling. It shifts suddenly to focus on a particular pink-haired girl who was unceremoniously dumped into the back room of her shop on top of said boxes.]

Ugh...thanks for the warning, jerks. [She begins to untangle herself from the boxes of ribbons and fabrics, moving the journal closer to speak. For the most part, she seems pretty unharmed.]

Hey...so what day is it anyway? Here's hoping I wasn't gone too long, totally bad for business. [There's a slight beat, suddenly remembering something. You know, her housemate that was alone for like a week.] Haruhi, report. [She works her way out from under the pile of materials and the door to the back room swings open, allowing her to enter the main part of the shop.]

Neku...you better have made it back. That was pretty low of them, keeping us sort of together and then sending you back first. Besides, I was right in the middle of designing a n--

[There's a long pause suddenly as she really takes a look at the shop. She's staring at a row of dresser dummies, counting them in her head.]

All right, which one of you broke into my shop when I was gone?!

[Dummy? Summer line? These words bright a bright light to her eyes. She suddenly gasps, her speaking growing much more enthusiastic.]

You're a fashion designer!?

Huh? Oh, yeah, I guess you could say that! I own the shop in the middle of town, All Passions.

That's the coolest thing ever! I've been learning for years how to make cute clothes!

[Excitement level is through the roof right now. Give her time. She'll calm down.

...Maybe.]

Really. [You have officially piqued her interests.] Do you have any of your work around here? I'd love to see it.

N-not really... b-but I can make something, if you like!

R-really!? Work with you? That would be... so cool! Maybe you could show me a few tricks~.

Definitely! I have a few of my friends who help out now and then, but I'm always willing to have new people come in.

There's a ship docked in the ocean not too far away from me, actually.

I might have to go check it out later, maybe call in a favorite from a friend.

...wait, what are you doing out at the ocean?

[She turns on the video feed. The top half of her body is floating in view as bubbles gently drift around her. A fish is seen in the background quietly going about its business. Guess what? She's been under water the whole time.]

...[Okay. Okay wait. This just may top the talking pony she met a few weeks ago.]

So you're a mermaid then? [She may or may not be enthralled by this.]

[She blinks. This is the first time in Luceti that someone has actually guessed that.]

Y-yes, actually. I am.

[She'll back a little to show off her tail, which is a brilliant shade of pink.]

[Shiki may or may not have spent a good portion of her childhood studying fairy tales for the fashion design. This includes things like The Little Mermaid <<;]

I...[Am speechless. Totally not sure what's appropriate to say here.] Whoa.

[She scratches the back of her head and gives an awkward laugh.]

D-don't worry. I breathe air too, and I have a wheelchair to get around on land. I can still work at the shop--

[She pauses. Her memories of back home pool in the back of her mind every time she talks to humans. They don't like merfolk back home. There's always a chance that someone new you meet won't either.]

...If you want, I mean.

Oh! No, I wasn't worried about any of that, I just...you know, I've never met a mermaid before. Is it really okay for you to be out of the water?

Y-yeah. We're pretty rare I guess. I'm the only one here. [She looks to the side from that. It gets a little lonely, being the only one out here and all.]

But I'll be fine. It just gets a little uncomfortable if my skin gets dry. But nothing a bath or a couple drinks won't fix~.

Kind of a bummer...are any of your other friends here? [It's better than asking if she DOES have other friends.]

If you say so. Sure then, I'd still love to see what you can do. Let me know and I'll be here. If it's easier I can always take a day-trip out there, too. I haven't seen the ocean yet.

Mhm. Have you met the Straw Hats? They're pirates, but they're really nice pirates. They won't go breaking into your store and stealing dummies.
