Yeah, it's kind of sad. That's mostly why I moved in just to keep him from going completely insane...but I think I might be too late, the guy's got a coffin in his bedroom. Who does that that's not a vampire?

Actually, that's a common misconception about vampires. Most of them consider the coffin thing to be mucho tacky.

Still, though. He's got a coffin in his room? Do you know why? Besides his obviously serious case of being a heebeejeebie-giver.

Knowing Haruki's logic it's probably in case a vampire decides to stay with us. He's...really into the supernatural weird stuff you know? I'm pretty sure he's the one that called that giant squid alien to Luceti.

But tacky as it might be, it goes with the decor of tiki heads, alien crop circle patterns, and shrunken skulls.

Huh. Well, if he really wants to get to know a vampire so bad--there's always Angel. He's usually in the relatively harmless category. But, then again, he's also not so big on to socializing.

His goal is to discover the unknown mysteries of the world. Aliens, monsters, that kind of thing. Ambitious enough but totally weird. I'm not even sure why he has half the stuff he does, maybe it's just to scare people, who knows? All I know is that it's spread out everywhere. It's like a tornado of weird hit the whole house.

I know a guy who owned a magic shop, once. It was sort of like that, only...less of a tornado and more a really well organized inventory system designed by a stuff old British man. So, maybe not at all like that. But there were weird things. Shrunken heads, mummy hands, the odd black arts book.

Somehow I think Haruki would have a field day. I just don't get it.

Some people are just fascinated by the unknown. That same guy who had the shop? He devoted his life to studying the occult.

Now see that's even weirder. I get the idea of having a hobby but some people take it a little too far.

It was his job, actually. He was something called a Watcher. They spend all their school-time learning about creepy crawlies and apocalypses. Oh, and they learn a bunch of complicated old languages that no one with any sort normalness could ever pronounce.

So what was the point then?

To know enough so that when the the world needed saving from mystical doom, they'd be there to make sure the right things were done, I guess.

Hmm...to each their own, I guess. Sounds like we all know some interesting people.

Yep, interesting is one word. But luckily, I don't have to inflict Giles on you. When I describe him as stuffy? I mean it. You can practically hear it in his voice, when he sits there and cleans his glasses in disapproval.

But your friend? Haruki, was it? He doesn't sound stuffy. He sounds...eccentric.

Ugh, trust me, I don't think we'd get along with each other at all. Stuffiness bothers me beyond belief usually.

Yeah...eccentric's one way to look at it. Oh! That was the other thing, did you want to drop by sometime this week for dinner? You know, that way you can see the eccentricity yourself. I mean keep in mind that he calls most people an idiot and his brain to mouth filter can be pretty small but, just a thought.

Oh, I absolutely want to stop by. I gotta see crazy for myself, first hand.
